How can a buyer determine the cost of logistics?

To determine logistics costs on Wikifarmer, buyers should begin by submitting a request for a quote on the product they want. The supplier’s response to your quote request will include a detailed cost breakdown, covering all logistic components like transportation fees. This transparency ensures you understand exactly what you are paying for in terms of shipping and handling.

It is important to note that the Incoterm you choose plays a key role in how logistics costs are calculated. If you select Ex Works (EXW), transportation and shipping charges are not included in the supplier’s offer—these costs will need to be arranged separately.

In other words, choosing different Incoterms—such as CIF or DAP—will affect whether logistics charges are covered by the supplier or must be handled by you. By examining the supplier’s quote and noting the chosen Incoterm, you can accurately assess the total shipping cost and plan accordingly.

This method of request-and-response allows buyers to make informed decisions, compare offers effectively, and avoid unexpected logistics fees in their budgeting and planning.
